Under the bed, there is a large storage area. I had noticed that when the trailer was built, the platform was almost a foot shorter than the mattress. This was odd and done for no good reason that I could see. This also left the end of the mattress unsupported. It had begun to sag. I added an 11 inch strip to the end of the platform to give it the extra length it needed. This was better, but it I were to sit on the end of the bed to take off my shoes, it could break off. I grabbed some 1/2 inch birch plywood and built a three sided support that butted into the existing storage box. I had some paint mixed that matches the wood grain finish. It has no grain, but it barely shows and isn't noticeable. We now have a full length, fully supported bed platform with an additional 6 or 7 cubic feet of storage
